The following Schedule is for the Costuming Track - in the Costuming Track Room unless noted otherwise and is currently TENTATIVE and is subject to change/evolve, before or during the convention, so please check for updates upon arrival.


Friday, May 21

12:00PM  'Tai Chi with Erin Gray"  Come and get fit with Erin and some of the IC staff..

 

4:00PM     "Costume Danger" with     Scott Merrill, Freddy Clements.  We will talk to you about some of the dangers of costumes, from mask, to glues and other things.


5:00 PM  "Steampunk Costuming" with Cindy McLeod, James Atkins, Doug Grove.  Discover how to make, alter or find clothing and gear that puts the Steam into Victorian era costuming.  Panelists model Steampunk fashion while they share resources, themes and ways to combine elegance with engineering.


6:00 PM  "I have my costume design, where do I go from here?" with Scott Merrill, Sharon Morgan, Chris Mueller, Freddy Clements.  This panel is helpful hints and techniques for helping the aspiring costumer with all the steps necessary to take a costume from initial design to finished product

10:00 AM "Costuming for your body type" with Melissa Williams.  Men and women can come and learn what costume is best for you..We will tell you what to wear and what not to wear.


11:00 AM "Steampunk Translation:  Re-imagining Superheros, Icons and Mythic Personas" with William McLeod, John Strangeway, Daniel Valdez.  From the X-Men to Alice in Wonderland, steampunk visonaries are translating popular characters into a Steampunk world with amazing and compelling results.  Panelists discuss their vision and journey toward reworking iconic images from the Sci-fi and Fantasy worlds.


12:30 PM  "Corseting" with Sharon Morgan, Scott Merrill, Chris Mueller, Melissa Williams, Freddy Clements.  This panel discusses different styles of corsets, tips on waist training. What to look for when purchasing a corset, and the importance of a proper fit. Buying the proper corset for your body type.


 2:00 PM "Steampunk Imaginists' Exposition" with  Jason Lee, John Strangeway, James Atkins, William McLeod, Paige Smith, Doug and Jo Grove. The South's best Steampunk crafters and inventors display their work and are available to discuss their projects and designs one-on-one with visitors. (2 hours)


4:00 PM "Props and Costumes" with Drew Sadler & Ray Willis.  We will cover how to build authentic looking props and costumes on a budget.


5:30 PM "A beginners guide to armor construction" with Scott Merrill.  This panel discusses various techniques for the construction of armor including metal, leather, hardened fabric, and plastic.


7:00 PM Star Wars Costume Contest at Courtyard Marriott (UAB)

10:00 AM  "Molding and Casting" with Scott Merrill, Freddy Clements.  Tips and Techniques on lifecasting and molding.


11:00 AM  "Steampunk Makers Round Table" with  Jason Lee, Doug Grove, Daniel Valdez, James Atkins.  Noted Steampunk craftsmen, designers and inventors share their inspiration and craft followed by a Q&A from the audience
