About Us

      ImagiCon is a first year Full-scale Science Fiction and Fantasy convention premiering in Birmingham, Alabama on March 27 - 29, 2009. Building on the success of a similar one-time event in Birmingham, which attracted record numbers for a first-year event of this type, the Magic City proved itself a perfect site for a Fandom-focused convention for Sci-Fi and Fantasy enthusiasts. 
      ImagiCon Chairmen / Owners are Thomas Wood and Joe Boyd working with Event Directors, Abby Sadler and Ray Johnson. The volunteer ImagiCon staff are experienced and proven convention veterans who are eager to bring a bigger and better Sci-Fi/Fantasy convention to Birmingham, Alabama.

FOX TV Episode of Bones and ImagiCon Live Action Quest PDF Print E-mail

Last week’s FOX episode of Bones (The Princes and The Pear) may have generalized the whole science fiction/fantasy convention genre and theme by using generic names for the science fiction/fantasy genre’s games, movies, comics, books, anime, etc. and the characters within them.  But they used the distinct name of ImagiCon for the convention where the fans came to celebrate, to learn more, and become part of the science fiction/fantasy genre.

Even though the Bones episode was unlocking the death of a “booth babe” at the ImagiCon convention, did they inadvertently unlock secrets to the real ImagiCon? Unknowingly and unwittingly did this episode unlock secrets behind why the real ImagiCon came to be?  Secrets and symbols to unlocking the riddles that answers why ImagiCon is important to the fabric of this universe and the alternate realities connected to it?  Secrets to Imagination, the founding principal behind ImagiCon?

Watch this week’s FOX episode of Bones to find the clues to answering the riddles of ImagiCon that will put you onto the path of ImagiCon’s Live Action Quest.  But act quickly, and be diligent, who knows how long these unsuspecting transmission will be broadcasted and how many more will follow. And keep your keys, symbols, and secret pass codes and pass phrases safe to locate and decipher transmitted messages as they occur leading up to ImagiCon’s premiere event.

To begin your journey in the FOX episode of Bones:  Remember that the true path is marked by the amalgamation of the flames of the serpent and the milestones of the obelisk.  Find this sigil to lead your way and seek Mr. Durf in the episode who displays the initial meme that can provide ImagiCon results to the searching candidate.  The League of Legends awaits your allegiance and is in need of your help!  Or are you the type to conspire with the Cabal Network?

SYNOPSIS:
ImagiCon is a weekend-long LIVE celebration of Science Fiction and Fantasy media. Featuring a broad range of activities and presentations related to the genres' entertainment mediums such as books, comics, television, film, music and gaming,  ImagiCon offerings will include electronic and RPG gaming, a vendor hall, and a professional artists' exhibition and sale.  ImagiCon will also present live music, demonstrations and performances, costume contests and a masquerade ball, panels with celebrities and authors, workshops with artists and costume designers, screenings of genre films and fan club gatherings of Sci-Fi and Fantasy-related entertainment from across the region.

Imagining a New Future: ImagiCon 2009 PDF Print E-mail

A new future for the fans of Sci-fi and Fantasy entertainment, comes the premiere of ImagiCon, Birmingham's extravaganza of television and film celebrities, best-selling authors, renowned artists, and authorities from the fields of science, paranormal, multi-media and more.  ImagiCon's broad range of activities will cover the genres' entertainment mediums such as books, comics, television, film, music and Internet and will include:   panels with celebrities and authors, workshops with artists, film producers and costume designers, film & video screenings,  gaming (electronic, RPG, LARP etc.), art exhibitions, vendor and exhibitor halls, and gatherings of Sci-Fi and Fantasy-related fan clubs.

Taking full advantage of a clean slate in Birmingham, ImagiCon chairman, Tom Wood hopes to offer entertainment options that have never been fully implemented by previous events.
